Why Use Expansion Joints?
Buildings and tiled surfaces are constantly shifting due to thermal expansion, ground settlement, or even seismic activity. Without proper detailing, these stresses can cause tiles or grout to fail. A tile expansion joint provides controlled separation within the surface, relieving pressure and allowing natural movement while keeping the floor finish intact.
Product Specifications
Our floor expansion joints are manufactured to international standards and engineered for performance in both residential and commercial projects.
- Floor (Aluminium): widths 50 / 100 / 150 mm | Length 3 m | Codes DP-AL-EX-FC-50, -100, -150
- Wall (Aluminium): widths 50 / 70 / 100 mm | Length 3 m | Codes DP-AL-EX-WC-50, -70, -100
Designed to handle substrate displacement, mechanical loads, and high foot traffic, each expansion joint cover keeps surfaces safe and visually consistent.
Applications of Tile Expansion Joints
- Residential projects include tiled living areas, kitchens, and balconies that are susceptible to temperature fluctuations.
- Commercial Facilities: Busy locations such as shopping centers, showrooms, and retail establishments.
- Public Infrastructure: Floor expansion joints increase durability and safety at transport hubs, schools, and airports.
Design & Performance Benefits
- Load compensation – absorbs the thermal expansion and mobility of the building without damaging the tile.
- Protection of edges and grout – reduces the risk of cracking, chipping and joint damage.
- Waterproofing support – helps control humidity and prevents water from entering.
- Durability – aluminum profiles are resistant to corrosion and designed for high loads.
- Aesthetics – thin and neat profiles blend harmoniously with any floor coverings.
Installation & Standards
Our tile expansion joint systems install with common tile adhesives and align with guidance such as TCNA EJ171 and BS 5385. Placement – including perimeter joints, intermediate control joints, and transitions over structural/seismic joints, must be determined by the project designer or engineer to meet structural requirements.
Individual Project Support
We work with architects, contractors, and distributors to find the optimal compensator for each project. You can upload project files or 3D models (STL, STEP, IGES or ZIP), and our team will prepare an individual proposal with technical recommendations.
